Welcome to The Property Tax Division's web page. Throughout this site you will be able to find answers to questions pertaining to all aspects of property tax. The purpose of our site is to provide general information to the public on the property tax laws in Alabama. The roles of The Property Tax Division are to oversee the reappraisal of all property in the county, to set schedules, standards and procedures for equalization of all property values and to ensure all property is taxed uniformly throughout the county. All taxable Real and Personal property, with the exception of Public Utility property, is assessed on the local level at the county courthouse with the county assessing official. The lien date for taxes is October 1 and taxes are due the following October 1. I hope you will find the information provided helpful and we welcome your questions, comments and value your input.
Our office's goal through this website is to provide you with a convenient resource to conduct your business, whether it’s paying your property taxes or researching Tallapoosa County’s tax records and deed information.
